Welcome to my website
The primary goal of this website is to encourage people to apply the Word of God in every aspect of their lives. God calls us to renew our minds (Rom. 12:2), thereby conforming ourselves to His image instead of a corrupt image that the world seeks to force upon us.
For friends, family, and those who have supported my ministry over the years, I will also use this site to keep people updated about what God is doing in my life these days.
Some articles will address social and political issues. My primary objective in these articles is to challenge you to look at these issues from a biblical perspective and respond accordingly. I do not profess to be an expert on all the issues I address. Comments and feedback are welcome: feel free to email me at mlynchonli@verizon.net. Serious, meaningful responses or suggestions may be reflected in updated versions of published articles.
From time to time, I will post links to articles and columns by other writers. Many of them will appear on my Interesting Links page.
Please feel free to bookmark this site and check back regularly. If you would like to be notified when a new article is posted, you can email me at mlynchonli@verizon.net.
It has been several months in the making, but Discipleship: Christ's Apprenticeship Program is now on this website. This is more of an e-booklet than an actual book. If printed, it would run about 13-30 pages (depending on page size).
This booklet addresses the need for intensive discipleship within the local church and offers suggestions for developing a program. I spent several years as assistant pastor in a small nondenominational church which emphasized personal discipleship; this booklet crystallizes a lot of the lessons I learned while considering this aspect of the ministry during that time.
Due to its length, I have provided a linked table of contents in this file. This way, if you do not have time to read it all in one sitting, you can stop at the end of a section and click your way quickly to the next section at a later time.
Current Updates

In recent weeks, I have added a number of new articles to this website. The most recent is Growing Faith. This article reflects on the parable of the mustard seed. Christians usually think this parable talks about how only a little faith can accomplish much. However, we fail to notice that a seed is supposed to grow, and so should our faith. This article suggests different tools for building up our faith.

The Church's Teaching Ministry. This article looks at an important role of the church. I urge all ministers to consider Eph. 4:11-13 and ask themselves if they are fulfilling the role God has established for them. The teaching ministry of the church suffers on a number of fronts: many churches are too busy trying to entertain or to be social clubs; some people think teaching is irrelevant. This is one of the most important ministries in the Body of Christ, and will remain so until He returns.

Treasuring the Kingdom of God examines one of my favorite parables in the New Testament, the Pearl of Great Price, in Matt. 13. This is probably because Jesus makes a deep statement in so few words, but those words challenge us to think what we would do for God's Kingdom.

Just in time for Easter, I added When God Turned Away. I had the pleasure of ministering once again in the Good Friday service at Island Park United Methodist Church (Island Park, NY) on April 6, 2007. Seven speakers gave messages, each focusing on one of the seven statements Jesus made from the cross. I spoke about, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" My experience as a father, watching his son fight for his life, gave me a deeper perspective on this element of the crucifixion. God's love is never more visible than at the moment He turned away from watching Jesus' death.

Other new articles include: Homosexuality: A Biblical Perspective, which looks at the Bible's viewpoint on one of the major socio-political issues of our time; Judgmentalism or Tolerance, which looks at the sin of judgmentalism and how we still need to stand for God's righteous decrees; Overcoming Obstacles looks at the healing of the paralytic (Mark 2) and shows us how we all face obstacles when we seek to draw near to God; and Resisting Temptation, which shows how Jesus is our role model when we face temptations to sin.

A few recent articles on this website were written for the America First Party's national newsletter. To understand why I joined the AFP, read my article on "Playing Politics with the Church." My recent article about the War in Iraq appears on page 1 of the AFP newsletter's spring issue.

Keep coming back to visit. A number of new articles should appear online in the next few weeks.
