My Biography

 My Early Life

I was born in Far Rockaway, NY on September 25, 1965, to Dennis and Rosemarie Lynch. I was the fourth of five children; my two older sisters and older brother were between the ages of 1 1/2 and 4 when I was born, and my younger brother was born when I was 11. We moved to Long Beach, NY when I was about three years old.

My three older siblings and I attended Catholic school until I finished fifth grade and attended Mass almost every Sunday. During my teen years most of us stopped practicing our religion. There were probably a lot of reasons: my mom had her reasons why she no longer required us to go to church, and I think all four of us had our own reasons for not attending.

Speaking for myself personally, I think there were a few factors. For one, I found Mass quite boring. It was not that I had anything against God. I just did not see how the things we did in church on Sunday had anything to do with real life.

I had several other reasons. Nevertheless, during my teen years I embarked on a spiritual journey. I pursued my interests in the occult, in Communism, and several other ideologies that clashed with Christianity.

Coming to Christ

The spiritual journey came to a climax when, in June 1984, I received Jesus Christ as my Savior after someone shared the Gospel with my friend and me on the boardwalk in Long Beach. I discovered that God had offered all the answers I was seeking all along; I just did not really listed to Him enough to realize that.

At the time I dedicated my life to Christ, I was a student at Syracuse University, pursuing an education that I thought would lead to a career in print journalism. When I was in high school, I discovered that I was a pretty talented writer (I even won a journalism scholarship to Syracuse; this was the highest individual award at the Empire State School Press Association) and thought my future lay in journalism. I earned my bachelor's degree, with a dual degree in newspaper journalism and psychology, in 1987; however, by then my newfound faith in Christ had redirected my career goals.

Early Ministry Years

During my time in Syracuse, I felt the Lord calling me to use my gifts in communication for His glory. So, during my senior year in college, I applied to the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in Springfield, MO. I began attending the seminary the fall after I graduated SU. I received a Master of Divinity degree, with a concentration in pastoral counseling, in June 1990. During my time in seminary, I married my first wife, Beth, in 1989. We had a son, Daniel, who was born two months premature on August 28, 1990. About two weeks before Daniel's birth I was ordained into ministry by Rev. David Knox at Deliverance Temple, a nondenominational Pentecostal church in Springfield.

Beth, Danny and I moved back to Long Island in 1995. Unfortunately, my marriage to Beth ended when she moved back to Missouri with Danny in November 1996. Since I was divorced, I concluded my ministry was finished. However, the Lord had other plans. When I started attending a nondenominational, mainline church in Long Beach (People's Church), I was asked to teach the midweek Bible study. Additional ministry responsibilities followed: song leader, church secretary, editing the church's newsletter, etc. I even preached on several occasions when the pastor was on vacation.

Recent Ministry

During that time, I met Joyce Cancemi at a Christian coffee house. We eventually started dating and got married on May 20, 2000. By the time we married, her brother John asked me to be his assistant pastor at a small church he had planted, Nassau International Assembly.

At the end of 2005, Joyce and I felt called to step down from ministry at NIA. One reason was so that I could devote more time to writing. This website is devoted to proclaiming the full gospel of Jesus Christ. In the articles on this site, you will learn of: the absolute need for salvation in Jesus Christ; his power to transform lives; and, how to seek His blessings. This website is written entirely by me and reflects what I believe God wants to say to His people. It does not necessarily reflect the views of any church or denomination.

Miscellaneous Personal

In addition to this website, I will continue to preach and teach in church settings as the Lord opens doors. If you believe I could be a blessing to your church, you can email me at mlynchonli@verizon.net and we can arrange a date when I may minister to your congregation.

In addition to this website and ministry, I work full-time as a lead production editor at the American Institute of Physics, preparing scientific journals for publication. I serve on three committees for the America First Party (the national committee, the public relations committee, and the New York State operating committee), a third party devoted to conservative values and constitutional government. In my spare time, I enjoy music (listening, playing guitar and singing, and writing), soccer, and hockey. I am also interested in history and science.

Well, now that you know more about me, I hope I can be a blessing to you through the articles on this website. May God speak to your heart as you read.
